Our people here at Esh Group play a key part in achieving our vision, which can only be accomplished through commitment, experience and continuous professional development. We therefore provide a range of opportunities for training and professional development.

Esh Group has a dedicated training team, which manages the training needs of all staff and operatives employed.

Our philosophy with respect to training is to ensure that every employee has the most up-to-date skills and information to safely undertake their respective duties.  The cost of this training is secondary to the needs and welfare of employees and subcontractors, and our Clients’ service delivery requirements.

All operational staff skills are recorded, regularly reviewed and considered in relation to their own personal training plan.

Esh Construction places safety training at the top of its personnel agenda. They have robust arrangements in place to ensure that all staff and operatives have the necessary safety training and knowledge of project specific risks and safe methods to manage these risks.

We have in place a comprehensive training procedure, ECQP019 Training, which is part of our BS OHSAS 18001:2007 accredited Health & Safety Management System. It is designed and developed for all grades and disciplines of personnel in the organisation.

Health and safety training is carried out to enable our employees and the Company to satisfy all legal requirements; to follow current industry best practice; and to ensure the safety of our employees, subcontractors, and other persons who may have access to or be affected by our Works.

Our success is led by our people and that’s why we constantly invest in developing our workforce.

The Group has invested over £0.5m in Construction Plant Card Scheme (CPCS) training to upskill our plant operators and to ensure that they were operating to the highest accredited standard. CPCS training is now embedded within the Group.

We also support our employees with further and higher-level study, such as NVQ’s, NEBOSH qualifications, HNC’s and HND’s.

Each employee enters a continuous personal training programme on commencement of employment with the company. This process applies to all employees, from site operative to Director level.

Our Group Training Manager devises compliant annual training plans for the maintenance of our training records and each employee is issued with a training passport, which tracks all in house and external company training required.

These records cover all legislative, health and safety, and job-specific training. We also hold copies of all certificates relating to training courses successfully completed by our staff.

We have a matrix in place that identifies a minimum requirement for each employee’s job role. This training is deemed mandatory and, depending on his/her role, additional training is provided and recorded.

All training has a given lifespan, after which, if an employee is still required to retain the skills, a refresher course or a full course will be provided.
