Construction and building services firm Esh Group has won a £1m contract to build a new rooftop extension at Leeds College of Music.
12th June 2017
The extension has been designed by local architects Group Ginger and will revamp the facilities at the conservatoire’s 350-seat concert hall, The Venue.
The works will transform the conservatoire’s main performance space, with the construction of a bespoke glazed roof extension offering visitors panoramic views of the city. Also, the extension will incorporate an in-situ bar, catering facilities and break out rooms to complete The Venue as a self-contained events space. The project will be completed by August 2017.
Stuart Leslie, divisional director at Esh Group, commented: “Leeds College of Music is recognised as a leading European Conservatoire and it is great to be able to play a part in extending the facilities that will support talented musicians and serve music lovers across the community.”
Leeds College of Music provides music education at undergraduate, postgraduate and further education level to over 1,500 students each year, with an emphasis on developing industry-relevant, creative and ambitious musicians and entrepreneurs.
