Esh Construction makes donation to EXODUS Project in Barnsley

The donation was made as part of the St Michaels Avenue scheme in partnership with YORhub’s YOR4Good Fund.

Esh Construction and framework operator, YORhub, have teamed up to provide funding to The EXODUS Project in Barnsley.

The EXODUS Project is a children’s charity, with a 23 year track record for improving the lives and aspirations of children and young people growing up in the less advantaged communities of Barnsley and Wakefield.

A donation of £9,600 has been made to support the charity’s activity centre, Jenny’s Field, which is located in a former Methodist Church building set in two acres of land. The charity runs activity camps all year round with monthly sessions taking place at Jenny’s Field and weekly activity clubs delivered out in the villages and on the estates that they support.

The funding will be used to cover the running costs of activity camps for children aged between 8 and 15 years old. The camps involve a range of different activities including dance, drama, crafts, music, sports, educational programmes and visiting places of interest.

Megan Roberts, social value manager at Esh Construction, said: “We are very proud of the work we do to support the local communities near our construction sites. The donation will make a real difference to The EXODUS project who deliver essential support to families in the local area. It has been great working with YORhub on another successful project, helping support great organisations who do amazing work in their community.”

Martin Sawdon MBE, co-founder of EXODUS Project, said: “Without Friends and supporters like Esh Construction standing with us, none of what we have achieved over the last 23 years would have been possible. They lead the way when it comes to Corporate Social Responsibility and we for one are immensely grateful.”

Esh Construction pledged the funding as part of its commitment to YORhub’s, YOR4Good Fund, a community grant initiative which supports economic regeneration projects through schemes awarded through the YORhub construction frameworks. The donations were made as part of the St Michaels Avenue development, a 35-home project being delivered on behalf of Barnsley Council, procured via the YORbuild2 framework.
