Businesses meet to launch Building My Skills for 10th consecutive academic year

Esh Group continues its work with like-minded businesses to provide employability and careers guidance to students across the North East, Yorkshire and The Humber.

On 18th and 19th July, Esh Group hosted Business Launch Events in the North East and Yorkshire to launch the award-winning Building My Skills programme for the 10th academic year.

Both events welcomed businesses from across the regions who wish to be part of Building My Skills, enabling them to work within schools to share their valuable advice on careers and employability skills.

Building My Skills is Esh’s employability programme which provides students with a rounded introduction to the world of work. Schools who sign up to the programme each receive five one-hour sessions throughout an academic year. Each session is delivered by a different business guest who provides insight into their sector and career path, the range of career opportunities in their business and sector, shares transferable employability skills and provides support with the completion of the student’s employability portfolio.

The programme culminates with a regional mock interview day, with all business partners who deliver sessions being invited to host one or more panels. The mock interview day provides valuable mock interview experience to students who have shown outstanding effort and completed their employability portfolio throughout the year.

Throughout the 2019/20 academic year, Building My Skills will be delivered in 40 secondary schools across the North East and Teesside and 16 across Yorkshire and The Humber, engaging over 9,000 students.

We currently work in collaboration with over 100 business partners to deliver the programme and are keen to engage more like-minded businesses who would like to work in their local schools to support the development of the workforce of the future.

Delivery slots are currently available across all regions, with high demand in Sunderland, Teesside, Bradford and Calderdale. If you are interested in finding out more, contact:
