Design Co-ordinator - (Closing date - 17/05/2024)

Overall Objective:

To ensure all design information is received, understood, co-ordinated and managed. Assist the delivery team in creating and implementing design management procedures for live construction projects and help to develop the most appropriate methods of construction. 

Key Accountabilities:

  • Co-ordinate with Design Team, Planning, Estimating, and Construction Teams and make use of appropriate techniques and software to ensure all design information is received, understood, co-ordinated and managed
  • Interpret project documentation to produce integrated design and build solutions
  • Implement and develop Digital Construction (BIM) procedures and experience
  • Co-ordinate and implement drawing approval processes
  • Create and manage ‘Viewpoint’ electronic data transfer, sharing and storage
  • Implement design tracking and progress reporting
  • Provide Design Management role to both JV partner and specialist sub-contract designers for Design and Build Contracts
  • Identify actions and ‘Early Warnings’ to reduce the likelihood of project failure
  • Integrate HSE and quality management processes into design procedures to ensure safe delivery to the required specifications
  • Select the appropriate design, product, or techniques to deliver innovative solutions to projects
  • Present design schedules, often with visual aids such as bar charts, Gantt charts and procedure diagrams
  • Provide Design Management service throughout the projects and manage Design Programmes from JV Partner, consultants and specialist sub-contract designers to ensure timely information to the construction team, flag up potential problems and solutions as they arise
  • Liaise with clients and other team members throughout the project, seeking approvals of design, products, and/or innovative solutions
  • Provide advice and support on the development of specific systems

Experience and Qualifications:

  • Minimum of a relevant HNC/HND or equivalent
  • Experience of working on Framework and traditional Civil Engineering Projects
  • Proven experience of working within design management on Design and Build and traditional projects
  • Comprehensive Design, Construction and BIM experience

Personal Skills:

  • Excellent Communication skills written and face to face, telephone
  • Excellent presentation skills
  • Attention to detail
  • Excellent time management skills
  • Good planning and organisational skills
  • Experience of Microsoft IT and data management packages
  • Valid UK driving licence
  • “Can do/will do” attitude
  •  Positive working relationships
