New apartments unveiled as £5m development completes in Rotherham

Forty-four new apartments have been delivered in partnership with Rotherham Council.

Esh Construction and Rotherham Council have marked the official completion of 44 apartments with the show home now open for those keen on snapping up a new home.

Known as Broom Hayes, the development has created 20 two-bedroom apartments for shared ownership and a mix of 24 one and two-bedroom apartments for Council rent. The apartments have been unveiled as Rotherham Council continues to deliver on its ambitious plans to create 1,000 new homes in the Borough.

The apartments are arranged across five blocks with on-site parking. Internally, the properties feature an open plan living area and modern kitchen, a stylish bathroom and an en-suite. Broom Hayes is in walking and cycling distance to the Town Centre and has public transport close by.

The scheme was procured via YORhub’s YORbuild2 framework and delivered by Esh’s affordable housing division. Stuart Leslie, Divisional Director at Esh Construction, said: “We are pleased to officially mark the completion of Broom Hayes and the first time Esh has delivered affordable housing on behalf of Rotherham Council. With the majority of the programme delivered throughout the pandemic, the project delivery team and our partners have done an exceptional job of managing the additional challenges faced to handover this high-quality development.”

As part of Esh Construction’s commitment to supporting the local community, over £7,500 was donated to YORhub’s YOR4Good Fund, a community grant initiative which supports economic regeneration projects through schemes awarded via YORhub frameworks. A further £2,000 funded Christmas gifts for the children of The Willows School in Rotherham, and supported a Christmas Party and visit from Santa arranged by children’s charity, Variety.

Rotherham Council’s Cabinet Member for Housing, Councillor Amy Brookes, said: “Rotherham Council has a long history of creating homes across the borough and the development at Broom Hayes shows that we are still as committed now as we were over 100 years ago. We plan to build a thousand new homes for the people of Rotherham to enjoy.

“It’s great news that people will be able to get a feel for what these new homes will be like with the opening of the show home. We want to ensure that local residents have access to high quality affordable homes. Broom Hayes is an exciting step forward in the Council’s continued plans to regenerate the borough and make Rotherham a place where people want to live, work and spend their leisure time.”
