Esh volunteers freshen up classroom in Bradford Primary School

A group of Esh staff transformed the Year 1 classroom, ready for students return to school following the summer break.

Staff members from across our Social Value and Site Teams volunteered their time to transform a classroom at Poplars Farm Primary School in Bradford. The team lead by Site Manager, Samuel Hallam re-decorated the classroom to help boost its appearance ready for the new school term.

Esh is currently undertaking a £1.9m project at the school which will see the existing car park remodelled, the construction of a new two-storey teaching block and a new playground. As part of our commitment to social value, our local Social Value Coordinator liaised with the school to offer a volunteering day within their existing school building.

The school requested the re-decoration of Year 1’s classroom which needed a re-fresh. To ensure the schools request could be met and that the classroom was ready for the students return in September materials were purchased straight away and work began the next week.

The team, who were overseen by our specialist decorating subcontractor ‘Shades Decorators Ltd’, spent a full day working in the classroom. The first part of the day was dedicated to preparing the classroom for re-decoration, this included covering furniture and flooring, removal of fixings which had been used to display artwork and learning materials and filling any imperfections. During the second part of the day, the team refreshed the classroom with a new coat of paint.

Once work on the classroom had been completed and the décor was looking fresh and the remaining unused materials, which included paint and floor coverings, were donated to the school for future use.

We were proud to volunteer our time and resource into helping Poplars Farm re-fresh their classroom ahead of the new academic year. It was an enjoyable day and we received very positive reviews from the school.”
