Esh-Stantec wins Supplier of the Year at Northumbrian Water’s prestigious GEM Awards

Esh-Stantec has been recognised for ‘Going the Extra Mile’ in the North East community after winning the top award, being named the Overall Supplier of the Year at Northumbrian Water’s prestigious GEM Awards.

Esh-Stantec went on to receive a further three awards, demonstrating a real commitment to upholding Northumbrian Water’s vision and values.

The GEM Awards recognise companies who have achieved excellence and exceeded expectations to help Northumbrian Water provide resilient and sustainable water and wastewater services for its customers.

Judges explained how the Joint Venture between Esh Construction and Stantec had shown social responsibility and commitment to supporting local economies. Esh-Stantec also won the Living Legacy Award for their outstanding work in communities across the region.

David Pratt, Framework Manager for Esh-Stantec and Divisional Director for Esh Construction said: “It’s great that our work has been recognised by Northumbrian Water and it’s an honour to be awarded Overall Supplier of the Year. We’ve adopted a long-term approach to leaving a positive legacy of social value, which involves building strong relationships with our clients, as well as key stakeholders in the local community.”

Esh-Stantec, which prides itself on being customer-focused as well as results-driven, also picked up the award in the Unrivalled Customer Experience category. The award recognised its work in Killingworth and Longbenton on behalf of Northumbrian Water. This project, worth over £5m, included a dedicated customer service team engaging with customers before any works started and throughout, with community views influencing the final design.

The final award saw Esh-Stantec pick up the Responsible Procurement Award following its appointment to the Sunderland-based SME Nice Network. This appointment aligned with Esh Group’s ‘procure local’ social value policy.

Ben Clark, Design Programme Manager for Esh-Stantec and Operations Director for Stantec UK, said: “To win numerous GEM awards shows Esh-Stantec’s commitment to helping the local community. Each award is a great achievement and as a company we will continue to help provide our communities with vital skills and resources to build a better future.”

Our GEM awards recognise the hard work and effort that projects and teams go to in order to help us deliver an outstanding service for our customers. I’d like to congratulate Esh-Stantec on their achievements and for making these partnership projects such a success.”
