Esh Construction COVID-19 Position Statement

In accordance with the UK Government’s latest guidance that construction and housebuilding sites should remain open in a bid to keep the economy going, Esh Construction has outlined its position in relation to the Covid-19 pandemic.

In accordance with the UK Government’s latest guidance that construction and housebuilding sites should remain open in a bid to keep the economy going, Esh Construction has outlined its position in relation to the Covid-19 pandemic.

We have taken the decision to close our offices and all staff who can are working from home until further notice.

In line with the advice of the UK Government, we will continue with our onsite activity as planned and where it is safe to do so, this includes work for critical service providers; Northumbria Water Group, the Environment Agency, the NHS, local authorities, and care providers.

The health and welfare of our workforce and the general public remains our top priority and ongoing works are being carried out in accordance with COVID-19 guidance.

We are observing social distancing rules as set by the new Government-approved Site Operating Procedures, issued by the Construction Leadership Council on Monday 23rd March. These procedures have been implemented by our health and safety team and will allow our sites to function safely until further instructed.

The latest information from the Government, released through the Crown Commercial Service on Thursday 26th March 2020, states that:

  • “construction should continue where it can happen in a way that follows Public Health England and industry guidance”
  • “with the exception of the closure of non-essential shops and public spaces, we have not required any other businesses to close — such as those supporting the construction trade — it is important for business to carry on”
  • “we understand that certain jobs require people to travel to their work, for instance if they work in construction. So, if employees cannot work from home then they can still travel to work, provided they are well and neither they, nor any of their household are self-isolating”
  • “Employers who have people in their offices or onsite should ensure that employees are able to follow Public Health England guidelines including, where possible, maintaining a two-metre distance from others…”

These are unprecedented times and the situation is fluid. We continue to be led by the UK Government and its team of healthcare advisors, while continuing to consult with our workforce, clients, local authorities and supply chain partners.

We will listen carefully to the Government’s future advice as the situation develops and will make further adjustments where necessary.

Yours Sincerely
Esh Construction
