Esh Construction’s affordable housing division has successfully completed a £3.7m land led development of 32 affordable homes in Middleton, Leeds, with handovers completed in early November 2020.
Delivered on behalf of Yorkshire Housing, the development provides 28 houses and four apartments with a mix of two and three bedrooms for shared ownership and affordable rent tenures. With a design that integrates into the neighbouring properties and surroundings, the houses are arranged in semi-detached terraces and the apartments are in a two-storey block, all with parking facilities.
An existing road was upgraded to provide access into the estate and a footpath constructed to improve pedestrian safety.
Known as Bodmin Road, the development has been delivered in partnership with S+SA Architects and Clancy Consulting. Work got underway on the new homes in April 2019, following planning permission being approved by Leeds City Council to transform the site of two former care homes which were demolished in 2016.
Chris Hale, Estimating Director at Esh Construction, said: “Bodmin Road is a scheme which has been long in the making and marks the first land led development delivered by Esh within the Yorkshire region. The project is testament to a huge combined effort between our partners and the delivery team, from land acquisition to design and planning stages through to its construction.
