£3,500 of gifts donated to Cash for Kids’ Mission Christmas Appeal

The gifts will be distributed across North East and Yorkshire to those less fortunate this festive season.

Esh Construction has teamed up with joint venture partners, Stantec, and a raft of supply chain partners, to donate over £3,500 worth of children’s gifts to the Cash for Kids 2021 Mission Christmas appeal.

A campaign across the North East and Yorkshire regions encouraged staff and those who work with Esh to donate a variety of presents for children who would potentially wake up to nothing on Christmas morning. Gifts for all age groups will be delivered to drop off points in both regions this week, ready to be distributed in time for the big day.

Cash for Kids is a charity which aims to improves the lives of disadvantaged children and young people and is well known for its annual Mission Christmas campaign, backed by local radio station partners. In 2020, Mission Christmas collected over £12.7m in gifts and cash donations, which was used to make sure that 254,352 children and young people had presents to open on Christmas Day. As poverty figures continue to rise, the demand for support has increased.

Generous donations from Esh staff, Stantec, Pipetek, Jetaire, Clearway, and Lumsden & Carroll’s sub-contractors, have been commended by Esh Divisional Director, David Pratt. He said: “The last 18 months have been challenging for everyone, particularly for those living in poverty.

“Giving back to the local community is at the core of Esh’s values and I am immensely proud of the generosity of all involved for their support of the Mission Christmas appeal. If these gifts help to bring festive spirit to those who receive them, we are delighted that we have been able to make this small difference.”

Lisa Sullivan, Charity Manager at Cash for Kids, said: “Mission Christmas is a brilliant way for people to act in the true spirit of the season and give a little something to disadvantaged children and young people at risk of receiving nothing on Christmas Day without our help.

“We are so thankful to everyone at Esh Construction and those who work with Esh for their incredible support. The gifts they have donated will make a massive difference to the children we support.”

Amiee Littlefair, Charity Manager (North East), added: “Every year we receive an astonishing amount of applications to help make Christmas magical for local children here in the North East. The support we receive is overwhelming and we couldn’t complete our mission without companies like Esh Construction. A huge thank you to everyone at Esh Construction and their suppliers, the gifts they have donated will help make a massive difference to the children we support.”
