Assistant Technical Manager, Anna Capps, is celebrating two significant milestones after completing her BSc (Hons) Construction Management degree at Leeds Beckett University with First-Class Honours.
Alongside graduating with the highest classification, Anna received the CIOB Certificate of Excellence for Outstanding Achievement, awarded to the top-performing student on the CIOB-accredited Construction Management programme in 2026.
The achievement marks the culmination of five years of part-time study alongside her role at Esh, demonstrating the commitment and determination needed to balance academic learning with a full-time career in construction.
Reflecting on her achievement, Anna said: "Receiving both my First-Class Honours degree and the CIOB Certificate is something I'm incredibly proud of. It was rewarding to know that the hard work and perseverance I'd put in over the past five years had been recognised."
Throughout her studies, Anna continued to develop within the business, progressing from Trainee Technical Manager to Assistant Technical Manager while applying the knowledge gained through her degree directly to live construction projects.
"The degree has given me a much broader understanding of the construction industry," she said. "It's strengthened my problem-solving, communication and critical thinking skills, and I now feel much more confident making informed decisions and working collaboratively across project teams."
Balancing work alongside university commitments was not without its challenges, but Anna credits organisation, consistency and the support of colleagues for helping her succeed.
"Esh has been incredibly supportive throughout my degree," she said. "My managers and colleagues have always encouraged me, giving me the opportunity to apply what I'd learned on live projects while providing guidance and flexibility whenever I needed it."
She added: "Everyone I've worked with at Esh has taught me so much. Their support has been instrumental, not only in helping me balance work and university, but also in developing my confidence and knowledge throughout my career."
