Residents in the Throston Grange area of Hartlepool have benefitted from a range of improvements to their homes, following the completion of a £2.1 million investment programme.

Esh Construction was appointed by Thirteen Group to deliver the work across 297 homes through its Capital Investment Framework, with work including new kitchens, partial electrical upgrades and electric fire removals.

Andrew Harrow, Operations Director at Esh Construction, said: “Completing the Throston Grange refurbishment is a real testament to the strength of our partnership with Thirteen and the effectiveness of the Investment Framework. Working collaboratively, we’ve been able to deliver improvements at scale while keeping residents at the heart of the process.

“We’re proud of what’s been achieved here, providing key upgrades to raise the quality, safety and energy efficiency of homes across the region.”

Prior to the works, Thirteen and Esh worked closely with residents at Throston Grange, providing opportunities for residents to personalise their homes and involve them in the planning process.

One customer who benefitted from the improvements, commented: “I just love my kitchen, it’s beautiful. It could be in a show home. Thank you to Thirteen and Esh who have helped to make my house a home.”

The Capital Investment Programme, launched by Thirteen in 2023, has seen thousands of homes modernised across the North East and Yorkshire. The programme delivers planned maintenance and building safety projects with a focus improving homes, customer experience and social value, working with contractors like Esh to achieve high standards and value for money.

Rubie Lee-Dixon, investment area manager at Thirteen, added: “We’re committed to providing our customers with homes that are safe, in good condition and fit for the future.

“It’s been fantastic to partner with Esh on the project, who share our vision to deliver homes and communities for people to feel proud of. Following some fantastic feedback so far from our customers, we believe we’ve achieved just that.”

Throston Grange builds upon the success of this working partnership, with Esh having also recently completed major heating upgrades at a 46-home assisted living scheme and energy efficiency upgrades across 150 homes in Stockton-on-Tees.

Esh is now delivering a £2.25 million refurbishment programme at Beechfield Court, a sheltered accommodation scheme in Middlesbrough, which forms part of Thirteen's wider £58 million investment plans for the North East and Yorkshire.
