Overview

Intergenerational Living Delivered through our Land-Led Solution

Highfield Road was brought forward through Esh’s bespoke land-led  solution, uniting two clients - Housing 21 and Together Housing Group – to address specific housing needs in the area.

The project promotes intergenerational living with 66 affordable homes and an over 55’s retirement living scheme built on the same site.

Collaboration was at the heart of the development, from securing the land to the planning process and then delivery throughout the pandemic.

The Detail

Partnerships are Key to Making Schemes like this Happen

With a growing need for affordable housing and retirement living in Doncaster, we stepped up with a bold land-led solution. By partnering with two leading providers we created an inclusive community which meets the needs of families and older residents.

The 7-acre site is now home to:

  • 56 two, three and four-bedroom houses and 10 two-bedroom bungalows for Together Housing.
  • 58 one and two-bedroom apartments and two bungalows for Housing 21.

Bringing multiple registered providers and agencies together was no small feat. Yet, with a shared vision and strong collaboration, together we overcame complex legal requirements, a planning appeal and the unprecedented challenges of the pandemic.

This development exemplifies our capability to bring partners together, deliver complex projects, and provide lasting benefit for local residents.

Our Impact

Uniting Partners and the Community with One Shared Vision

Throughout the development, we maximised the benefits of a local supply chain by re-investing more than £7.4 million into the Yorkshire region through the responsible procurement of local subcontractors and materials.

Our commitment to social value extended to employment opportunities, creating 214 weeks of work for 13 local people, including 11 veterans who had previously been out of work – helping individuals regain stability and purpose.

We also supported the community beyond the construction site, donating £1,500 to the local cricket club for a new scoreboard  - enhancing local facilities for local people to enjoy.
