Overview

Supporting the Regeneration of Bishop Auckland Town Centre

Bishop Auckland Bus Station will offer modern and accessible facilities to passengers, with eight stands, a retail kiosk and more public toilet facilities. Alongside it there will be a 124 space carpark.

Enabling works were undertaken ahead of the build phase, which involved the excavation and clearance of the existing hard surface to facilitate a new drainage system and the installation of seven attenuation tanks. A new sub station is being built to provide the necessary power requirements.

Sustainable technologies to boost the building’s environmental credentials feature within the design, including solar photo voltaic panels on the roof, a rainwater harvesting and re-use system and a Sedum green living roof to promote biodiversity.
