Commercial Manager Sean Gardiner has had quite the journey since he joined Esh as an apprentice in 2010.
His initial role was in business administration before he was approached to transfer onto an engineering apprenticeship route. While the role of an engineer was something he enjoyed, a knee injury prevented him from visiting building sites for an extended period, and instead he was given the opportunity to move into quantity surveying.
Four promotions later, Sean is a key part of the Commercial team within Esh’s housing infrastructure division, Lumsden & Carroll. But, he has always stayed true to his roots, and each year, plays a key role in the mentoring and development of new apprentices.
He shares his thoughts on why he’s keen to support Esh Group’s next generation.
Esh has supported me through several transitions, from administration to engineering, and then quantity surveying after my injury. Thanks to the opportunities I've been given to grow and develop, I feel strongly about giving something back.
Having the chance to mentor young apprentices is a privilege. I draw upon the experience and best practices I've gathered over the years to help those in the early stage of their career to progress.
Esh places real emphasis on personal and professional growth, and nurturing new talent - something I’ve really benefitted from - and I’m proud to play my part in fostering this culture within our team.
