Darush began his career at Esh in 2007 as a trainee, balancing a role within the land team while completing a degree in Planning & Development. Early on, he developed a strong focus on community engagement in the development process.
This foundation led to him playing a pivotal role in shaping Esh Group’s responsible business practices and the creation of our award-winning Constructing Local strategy – now embedded at the heart of how Esh delivers social impact.
In 2018, Darush was appointed as Director of Corporate Affairs & Social Value, a role that reflects a career built on continuous growth, innovation, and impact. Here’s his perspective on the experience so far.
When I first joined Esh, I wouldn’t have described myself as particularly academic, but I was eager to learn and work hard. Early exposure to community engagement struck a chord with me, and that passion ultimately inspired the creation of a suite of social value programmes designed to leave a lasting legacy around our sites – Esh’s Constructing Local strategy.
At Esh, we’ve always believed in ‘growing our own’, and I’ve undoubtedly benefitted from that ethos from day one. I have had good mentors, and by demonstrating a strong work ethic, creative thinking, and problem-solving ability, it has opened the doors for me to make a real difference.
Today, as Director of Corporate Affairs & Social Value, I’m proud to lead a talented team of communications, design, and social value professionals, and to work closely with our executive board to shape Esh’s reputation, drive sustainable growth, and ensure our values are embedded throughout the business.
