Esh Group has welcomed 16 new apprentices across the business as part of its latest annual intake, with seven joining Esh-Stantec as the team continues to expand in support of Northumbrian Water's ambitious AMP8 investment programme.
The appointments form part of Esh-Stantec's continued growth as it strengthens its workforce to support the delivery of major water and wastewater infrastructure projects across the North East. Apprentices joining the programme will work alongside experienced teams while studying towards industry-recognised qualifications, gaining practical experience and developing skills for future careers in the sector.
Among those joining Esh-Stantec is Ona-Naura Lum, who has started a Level 4 Quantity Surveying apprenticeship after successfully completing a year-long placement in Esh Group's affordable housing division. Her progression demonstrates the variety of pathways available for those starting their careers within the business.
Ona-Naura said: "My placement year gave me a real insight into the industry and confirmed this was the career path I wanted to pursue. Everyone was incredibly supportive, and I knew Esh was somewhere I could build a strong foundation for my future career. I'm looking forward to gaining more experience on site and developing my skills as part of the apprenticeship programme."
David Pratt, Divisional Director at Esh-Stantec, said: "It's fantastic to welcome seven apprentices into Esh-Stantec as we continue to grow. These apprentices will gain valuable experience working on major infrastructure projects while helping us strengthen our workforce and continue delivering for communities across the region.
"We are committed to supporting their development and helping them reach their full potential as they build their careers within the industry."
Darush Dodds, Corporate Affairs & Social Value Director at Esh Group, added: "Investing in young people remains one of the most important ways we can secure the future of our industry. Every year we continue to build on our commitment to apprenticeships, creating opportunities for individuals from all backgrounds to learn, develop and build rewarding careers within construction and the built environment.”
Esh's ongoing commitment to developing future talent has also been recognised through external accreditation. Achieving Gold membership of the 5% Club for a third consecutive year reflects Esh Group's long-standing commitment to investing in people and developing future talent. The prestigious recognition, awarded to employers that demonstrate a sustained commitment to earn-and-learn opportunities, reinforces Esh's focus on creating meaningful career pathways for young people.
The Group’s latest intake continues that commitment, helping to create a skilled workforce for the future while providing valuable career opportunities across the region.
