We Are on a Mission to Connect More Schools, Students and Employers Than Ever Before
This free, fully coordinated programme helps students understand the world of work, develop essential employability skills, explore local opportunities, and make informed decisions about their future.
A lack of awareness of careers and sectors remains a key barrier to success - put simply, young people can’t be what they can’t see. The Milburn Interim Report (Young People and Work) positions quality school-business engagement as “a critical missing part of the system”.
Through structured careers sessions, employers bring their sector to life, helping to inspire young people while building a stronger, more sustainable future workforce.
Be part of a programme that delivers real impact for students, schools, and employers alike.
BUILDING MY SKILLS
The Need-to-Knows
Tried, Tested & Free
An award-winning programme which first launched in 2009. It is managed by Esh Group and free to businesses and schools.
Launching This Year
The next instalment will launch in November 2026 via an introduction video played in assembly to all participating students.
Timetabled Workshops
Each school selects one year group to receive four timetabled workshops, all of which are delivered lecture style over the course of the academic year.
Sector Variety
Each workshop is delivered by a different guest business, carefully planned by sector to ensure students don’t receive duplicate sessions from the same industry.
Follow Up Tasks
Students complete a ‘checkpoint’ after each workshop and those who complete all checkpoints are invited to a regional interview day.
Fully Accessible
The programme is accessible to all – SEND, ESOL, PRU - and importantly, schools in most need of support.
