Esh-Stantec, working in partnership with Northumbrian Water and Turner & Townsend, piloted the first Shared Summer Placement programme in 2015. One undergraduate student was selected to take part in the 12-week programme which enabled students to gain a wider understanding of the Water Industry. This was the first programme to be developed by the Run2 Academy and the lessons learnt have allowed us to develop to where we are today.
In 2015 Esh Construction secured a place on Northumbrian Water’s Water & Wastewater Infrastructure Framework. Each company within the Runway2 Framework submitted education related CSR targets in their Best and Final Offer Document. After an initial review of the CSR targets, it was agreed that ALL businesses should be working towards a collaborative set of CSR targets.
The Run2 Academy was formed to achieve these collaborative community targets – a working group of key people from each organisation within the Run2 Framework. The Run2 Academy has developed and created unique and sustainable programmes which focus on the following streams:
- 12 Week Shared Summer Placements for Undergraduate Students
- Shared Year in Industry Placements for 3rd Year Undergraduate Students
- Collaborative Work Experience Placements for Year 11 Students
- Shared Apprenticeships
Ross is now employed by Esh-Stantec on a full-time basis, working towards a degree in Chartered Surveying.
Rob was employed by Esh-Stantec for to days a week, while he completed his degree at Northumbria University.
Cameron is now employed two days a week by Turner & Townsend, while he completes his undergraduate degree at Northumbria University.
