Diagnostic and Treatment Centre

Diagnostic and Treatment Centre - £5.6m

The two-storey, diagnostic and treatment centre provides purpose built, modern, high quality premises specifically designed to cater for community renal dialysis and day surgery.

The facility is a first of its kind in the area with such specialist equipment under one roof which improves patient accessibility to facilities and helps alleviate pressures upon existing facilities.

The centre is located at Belmont and serves patients from the North Eastern areas of Durham and beyond. The location was chosen due to its proximity to the A1, making it easy to locate and access.

The treatment centre provides consultant and treatment rooms, as well as a large reception and waiting area which provides more space and comfort for patients.

The building maximises the use of natural light with the internals providing space for both staff and patients.

The facility is split so that dialysis and theatre accommodation are located on the first floor and the consulting, treatments, diagnostics and staff accommodation are located on the ground floor.

The floor layouts ensure future flexibility and the option of future change of use if required. Room sizes have been standardized and soundproofed to ensure that rooms are private, flexible and can be used for a variety of purposes.
