JCT Design & Build Contract 2011
A new two storey STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) building was constructed within the Northumberland College Campus. The building accommodates a large workshop, flexible open plan teaching facilities, offices, entrance area, toilets and a lift.
In 2015 Northumberland College were granted funding to develop a STEM building as part of the current campus based in Ashington.
The College already provided some STEM courses but wanted to increase the options available to students and provide state of the art facilities to assist their training.
Facilities include a class 10,000 clean room, digital 3D imagery equipment, nanotechnology, microscopes, specialist chemicals and labs. The centre also provides a base for math’s and digital courses at the college.
The site is adjacent New Trades Workshop. The location of the site provides easy access to adjacent cycle or car parking locations and adds to the overall grouping of the campus and contributes to the development of the campus.
