Several individual projects have been carried out at St. Mary’s Cathedral, a Grade 1 listed building in Newcastle. This building is considered to be AW Pugin’s finest work in the North East of England.

Works undertaken at the cathedral include:

  • Refurbishing and improving the fabric of the building which is an important part of the region’s architectural heritage.
  • Providing improved facilities and services for the Cathedral community and for the wider public.
  • Creating a cultural and heritage resource for all, integral to the Newcastle City Council’s Grainger Town regeneration programme.
  • Redecorating the church in a style in keeping with Pugin’s design principles along with a discreet lighting system.

Recent works included renewing the existing flooring, installation of underfloor heating and renewing the high quality decorative tiling. Previous works have comprised the construction of the Cloister Café and Restaurant, as well as the visitor centre and shop. Due to the listed building status of the Cathedral these works employed high quality timber, glazing and masonry finishes.
