Esh Employability

Esh Group supports many initiatives which assist in embedding employability skills and help students better understand business. We believe academic success makes up only one part of a young persons ‘toolbox’. When students leave school to move into employment or university they compete against hundreds and sometimes thousands of people looking to secure the best possible opportunity.

Esh Group partners with schools to ensure students have the best possible chance of success after they leave school or college, prompting them to explore opportunities outside of the curriculum boundaries.

Esh Group’s ‘Employability Award’ is designed to raise the profile of a school by enhancing the employability and University prospects of its students, providing official recognition for extra-curricular activities and achievements. Via a series of checkpoints, workshops and mock interviews students show sustained commitment to the scheme, in turn their eyes are opened to what it takes to ‘make the grade’ in the workplace. The process gives students confidence to stand out from the crowd, helping them realise that nowadays academic success is not the only thing employers look for.

“It was interesting for me as a head of year to see my students apply themselves to a real life interview scenario. A number of candidates demonstrated the ability to speak genuinely about their experience which set them apart from those who could only draw on academic performance. The value of softer skills and workplace knowledge can sometimes be overlooked in schools.”
