CIS Building

Crowned as Newcastle’s Best New Building at the Lord Mayor’s Design Awards, the Computer and Information Sciences (CIS) Building is a world leading research and teaching facility. CIS Building forms an extension to the existing Ellison Building which was refurbished, and a new glazed link and bridge constructed through the gable wall. The design of the CIS building offers open plan teaching environments and a flexible floor plan, including moveable acoustic walls to allow different configurations for changing cohort sizes.

Laburnum Court, Magnolia Court & Ewbank Community Centre

Delivered in partnership with Thirteen Group, 24 flats in Laburnum and Magnolia Court received new kitchens, bathrooms with level access showers, doors, heating systems, a full electrical upgrade and decoration throughout. Ewbank Gardens, the onsite community centre, received a full makeover as part of the project, including roof improvements, a new, modern kitchen, bathroom suites, doors, a full heating upgrade and modern décor. Externally, the gardens were landscaped to provide a relaxing environment for residents to enjoy together.

Highfield Road

Highfield Road in Askern is a land led development which was brought forward by Esh Construction in partnership with Together Housing Group and Housing 21. Two bungalows and a three-storey retirement living scheme containing 58 apartments have been constructed on behalf of Housing 21. While 56 two, three and four-bedroom homes, and 10 two-bedroom bungalows, were built for Together Housing.

Victoria Building

Teesside University’s Victoria Building underwent internal refurbishment and external repair works to create an enhanced business hub. Formerly used as a school when constructed in 1892, the project was commissioned to restore the buildings heritage features and create an industrial-looking and open-plan space. Removal of the suspended ceilings revealed the original windows, and the original parquet flooring and wall tiling were revived. Externally, a steeplejack restored the roof and chimney in line with the building’s Grade II listed status.
