Overall Objective

To play a support role in a building project; supporting the managing of the costs from the early design plans, through to the building's completion. Work within the projects legal and quality standards, and ensure that clients get good value for their money.

Key Accountabilities

  • Support various feasibility studies to estimate materials, time and labour costs.
  • Support the negotiation and drawing up bids for tenders and contracts.
  • Assist in monitoring each stage of construction to make sure that costs are in line with forecasts.
  • Assist in the preparation of financial progress reports to be presented to clients.
  • Assist in assessing the financial costs of new environmental guidelines, such as using sustainable timber.
  • Complete apprenticeship framework in line with individual learning plan.

Experience and Qualifications

  • Minimum of 5 GCSE’s A – C or equivalent including ICT, Maths and English essential.
  • Full valid UK driving licence desirable.

Entry Conditions

  • Although there are generally no laid down minimum requirements or previous experience requirements to undertake this apprenticeship within the Esh Group, this apprenticeship is likely to be suitable for individuals who:
  • Have evidence of work experience, including volunteering, within the sector.
  • A good knowledge of construction methods and materials.
  • Budget handling skills.
  • Excellent IT and Maths skills.
  • A methodical approach to work.
  • Good organisational skills.
  • A clear understanding of Building Regulations and other legal guidelines.
  • Excellent communication and negotiating skills.
  • The ability to work as part of a team.
